The Aging and Loneliness Session Series at HIMSS22 gives voice to the experience, challenges and needs of aging populations.

The number of people 65 and older in the United States is expected

  • to increase to 55 million in 2020;
  • to some 70 million by 2030, and
  • to 88.5 million — or 20 percent of the population — in 2050.

The number of people 65 and older in the United States is expected to increase to 55 million in 2020; to some 70 million by 2030, and to 88.5 million — or 20 percent of the population — in 2050.

During the Aging and Loneliness Series sessions, attendees will hear from and engage with entrepreneurs and innovators across technology, service and care delivery companies who are working on solutions to address the needs of this growing population.

Sessions will explore the ways in which solutions that are supposed to keep people safe where they live have let them down; and they will introduce novel approaches to sensing, machine learning and care delivery that may enable this growing population to live longer, more safely, with more joy wherever they may choose to live.

Keynote: Compassionate Leadership for the Era of ‘Aging with Attitude’

Tuesday, March 15

Moving the needle in healthcare, in any geographic region, has proven to be one of the most difficult endeavors for any leader.

Parallel to the exceptional technological advancements within industries such as banking, entertainment, education, or manufacturing, healthcare has seemingly moved forward at a glacial pace.

While this is mostly due to the intricacies of patient privacy and attempts at patient behavior change, the boundless creation of information silos, and the lack of established best practices, it does not diminish the need for advancement using the societal tools that we now have available to us.

Only the strongest of leaders will be able to untangle this complicated web and establish solutions that result in better healthcare outcomes on a national and global scale.

And yet, that still is not enough, especially when it comes to the specific challenge of creating a system that allows our aging and health-compromised populations to thrive in independence.

To meet that challenge, leaders will need to be unforgivably strong while also simultaneously caring and compassionate to be able to move the dial.

Learn from Donato Tramuto and his more than 4 decades of leadership experience in this space to see what it is going to take to make real change and how you can help.

Donato will be doing A ‘Meet the Author’ session and pre-selling signed copies of his new book, “The Double Bottom Line: How Compassionate Leaders Captivate Hearts and Deliver Results” at the conclusion of the session series at 5:30pm in room 230A.

This session is part of the #agingwithattitude movement — giving a much-needed voice to our aging and health-compromised loved ones who are trying to navigate effective aging while maintaining independence, privacy, and a sense of purpose in their daily lives.
